Characteristics of the vintage
A great vintage. The year was warm but not excessively so, and relatively wet, unlike 2022. Mild winter, cool and wet spring, followed by a capricious summer weather with more rains than usual. It led to a perfect ripening at mid- September. We have some exceptionally fine dry white wines that are fruit-driven, fresh and well-balanced, as well as rich, complex Late Harvest and Aszú wines produced by excellent botrytisation.
Harvest
Intensely botrytised bunches or part of bunches were selected from Disznókő vineyard's southern and western slopes, during the first half of November.
Vinification
Full bunch pressing, the must was cold-soaked overnight. The fermentation took place in stainless steel vats for two weeks.
Blend
90% Furmint, 10% Zéta
Maturing
After vinification and a couple of months of ageing in vats, the wine was blended in January and aged 2 more months in barrels to have a more open aromatic profile. Bottled in March 2024.
Tasting notes
It has a light straw yellow robe. The nose offers stone fruits such as fresh greengage, citruses and honey aromas. The palate is very fresh, the crisp acidity is perfectly balancing the sweetness, with pleasant orange zest flavours, and mineral finish.
Serving
Ready to drink from the moment it is bottled. It will also develop in complexity during the next ten to fifteen years. To enjoy to its fullest, serve cool (11-13°C). After opening, it can be kept in the fridge for two weeks.
Serving
Outstanding aperitif. Perfect accompaniment to foie gras. Also excellent with sea-fish dishes made with creamy sauce and lemon, duck dishes with fruit, and not so sweet desserts, fruits and cheeses.
